Systematics
Order : Beetle (Coleoptera)

Family : Longhorn beetle (Cerambycidae)
Subfamily : Cerambycinae
Genre : Chlorophorus
Type : Shoulder-spotted ram
Scientific name
Chlorophorus figuratus
( Scopoli , 1763)

The Schulterfleckige Aries Bock ( Chlorophorus figuratus ) is a beetle from the family of the longhorn beetle and the subfamily Cerambycinae . The species is similar to several other species in the genus Chlorophorus . However, these usually do not have a shoulder mark.

The species is listed in the Red List of Endangered Species in Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia under Category 2 (endangered). In Rhineland-Palatinate it is considered endangered , in Bavaria , Brandenburg , Saxony and Thuringia it is classified as extinct or lost .

Notes on the name

The species was first described by Scopoli in 1763 as Cerambyx figuratus . The species name "figuratus" ( Latin ) means "provided with figures". It is explained by the description that Scopoli gives after the species diagnosis: Si ab uno angulo externo lineae obliquae elytri duceretur alia recta, tunc in elytris unitis resultaret rudis figura vultus (lat. If one would draw a transverse line from one corner over the elytra , one could see the rough shape of a face on both together). The generic name "Chlorophorus" (from ancient Greek χλορός chlorós, green and φορείν forein for clothing) expresses that the hair is greenish. However, this is not the case for this type of genus. The genus Chlorophorus is represented by thirteen species in Europe and by well over a hundred species worldwide.

Characteristics of the beetle

The beetle reaches a length of seven to thirteen millimeters. The body is elongated and cylindrical.

The pronotum is black and about as wide as the elytra. He is hairy long protruding (clearly visible in Fig. 1) The tag is wider than long

The wing covers are cut off at the end, the outer angle protrudes in the shape of a tooth (Fig. 3). The wing cover is black with white banding. The first wing cover bandage begins at the label and runs along the wing cover seam, first to the back, then to the outside. Within the arch there is a whitish-gray spot near the shoulder.

biology

The warmth-loving species can be found on sunny forest edges, on steppe heaths and on warm slopes. The adult beetle appears in May and can be found until August. He mainly visits umbelliferae and daisy family .

The larva develops in various old deciduous trees such as oak , pear , elm and chestnut in dying or already dead branches. The development time is two years.

distribution

The beetle's range extends from Spain to Finland . However, the beetle is absent in Great Britain , Norway and Sweden . The beetle spreads to the east as far as Greece and Turkey .
