The scale group ( Normanichthys crockeri ) is a small marine fish that is endemic to the coast of the southeastern Pacific from the Peruvian island of Chimbote to the Chilean island of Mocha at depths of 37 to 200 meters. It received its scientific name in honor of the British ichthyologist John Roxborough Norman . In Peru it is called “Camotillo”, in Chile “Bacaladillo”.

Scale clumps are eleven centimeters long. Her body is covered by ctenoid scales, her head unarmored. They have two dorsal fins of almost the same shape and size. Your pelvic fins are supported by one hard and five soft rays. Scale clumps have no ribs.
Systematics
The systematic position of the scale group is uncertain. She was placed in her own, thus monotypical family. Nelson puts it in its own subordination (Normanichthyoidei) within the scorpioniformes (Scorpaeniformes), at Wiley & Johnson it is part of the bullhead superfamily Cottoidea .
