The Schwarzenbach (also called the Aurer Bach in its lower course ; in Italian rio Nero ) is a brook that flows into the Etsch from the left in the South Tyrolean part of the Fiemme Valley Alps .

The Schwarzenbach rises at the 2439  m high Schwarzhorn and, with a few changes in direction, flows westwards towards the Adige Valley . The middle reaches him running with the White Horn springing Bletterbach to its main tributary from the right. After around 15 km, the Schwarzenbach flows into the Etsch a little downhill from Auer in the Unterland at an altitude of 216  m .

Catchment area

The catchment area of ​​the Schwarzenbach consists primarily of porphyry rock from the Etschtal volcanic group . On its middle course it flows through a deeply dug canyon with numerous waterfalls. In several places, water is diverted from it for power plants.
