The Black Mountain is a 582.3 m high mountain in the Thuringian Slate Mountains . It is located near the villages of Wittgendorf and Volkmannsdorf .
Part of the Sorbitz rises on the Schwarzen Berg and flows into the Schwarza at Sitzendorf .
The border between the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen ran on the extensive grounds of the Black Mountain . The boundary stones, which are over 200 years old and 50 centimeters high, are still clearly visible today.
