The Schweiburg is an approximately 7.5 km long tributary of the Weser in the Lower Saxony district of Wesermarsch . The side arm, together with the river, surrounds the Strohauser Plate island near Rodenkirchen . Until the Weser correction by Ludwig Franzius , the Schweiburg was the main channel of the Weser. The sailing ports of Absersiel and Strohausersiel can be reached via the Schweiburg, which at low tide falls almost dry except for a small trickle.
After the low tide, the tide enters Schweiburg, which narrows sharply towards the south, in the form of a tidal wave up to 50 cm high .
The Schweiburg is incorrectly referred to as Schmetburg in some map presentations - especially in digital map materials.
