Pigs is the fourth album by the Leipzig band Die Prinzen and was released on April 24, 1995.

background

The album was the Prinzen's last CD at the time, which was produced by Annette Humpe . It was recorded and mixed between October 1994 and March 1995 by Graham Laybourne at Boogie Park Studio Hamburg . The tour through Germany belonging to the album took place from November to December 1995. The band enjoyed increasing popularity and was considered "East Germany's most successful pop band". The first single You must be a pig became a hit in German-speaking countries. In the second single I want a baby , the band also processed doubts about their own career (“I don't want to see the cameras flashing from photographers”).

reception

The album reached number three in the German charts and was widely received at the time. In the magazine Der Spiegel, for example, the texts were highlighted that were "the exception in East German songs". The song title You must be a pig was widespread and developed into a catchphrase, especially when it came to East German topics.
