The Swiss Sports Television (SSF) was a Swiss private television station , which focused 2009-2011 in Swiss sport. As of December 2011, the broadcaster had to lay off most of its employees in two waves due to a lack of economic success. Since August 2012, SSF Media AG has been appearing with a similar broadcast concept under the new name SportSzenefernsehen (SSf).

history

The SSF had its legal seat in St. Gallen with a production site in Zurich (in the TeleZüri studios ). The company was founded in 2007 as United Sport Production USP TV AG and renamed Schweizer Sportfernsehen (SSF) AG on October 2, 2009 . The share capital was 1.55 million Swiss francs. The board of directors was chaired by Peter Weigelt , and Giorgio Behr was vice- chairman . Pascal Jenny was the delegate of the Board of Directors . Claudia Lässer was program director from 2008 to summer 2012 , who was also the broadcaster's managing director from 2010 and board member from 2011.

The station started on July 1, 2009 with its own program, after having had a program window on Star TV from the beginning of 2008 . The connection to the cable network of the market leader Cablecom took place in 2010 against its will and only after OFCOM's ruling . Due to limited capacity, Cablecom then removed Sport1 (formerly DSF ) from the analog network. Due to a lack of success, the broadcaster had to lay off the majority of its employees in two waves at the end of December 2011. At the end of May 2012 it was announced that the majority of the Board of Directors had already left the station in February 2012. In the summer of 2012 it was communicated that the special interest broadcaster would henceforth appear on the market under the name SportSzenefernsehen (SSf).

As early as January 2012, the broadcaster announced that it wanted to realign its program offering with an online strategy from spring 2012: the coverage in German-speaking Switzerland does not allow the refinancing of a full-range program.
