Population and development

Current population figures are no longer published. Today there are seven residential buildings, a chapel and various farm buildings.

The Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Mary is liturgically supervised by the parish in Oberdorf (Church of St. Sebastian) (see: List of parishes in the dean's office in Dornbirn ).

The chapel is a wood-shingled , largely rectangular block construction on a brick base with a southeast-northwest orientation. To the northwest (altar) the walls are sloping. The gable roof carries a bell rider with a gabled helmet at the entrance on the southeast side . The only entrance with a simple wooden door with a viewing window can be reached via a stone staircase and is protected by a small canopy.

The prayer room is painted white, has a flat ceiling without paintings or decorations and a neo-Romanesque altar with a portrait of Saint Mary with the baby Jesus in the middle and dating from the end of the 19th century. On the left and right of the altar there are figures of saints and on the age itself two angel figures . The 14 stations of the cross along the walls also date from this time.

The chapel was donated by the Dornbirn citizen and well-known wine merchant Matthäus Thurnher (* August 28, 1792; † April 11, 1878; see: Johannes Thurnher ) and built between 1875 and 1877.

traffic

The steep road to Schwendebach and on to Rotte Schauner has in sections the character of a ravine. Schwendebach has no connection to public transport.

Craft, trade

Due to the traffic situation and the limited space in Schwendebach, no special handicrafts or commercial operations emerged. Agriculture still dominates the area today .
