The Scotonihütte (Italian: Rifugio Scotoni , lad. Ütia Scotoni ) is a managed private mountain hut in the Dolomites in South Tyrol , Italy .

Geographical location

The Scotonihütte is located at an altitude of 1985  m slm on the southern edge of the South Tyrolean nature park Fanes-Sennes-Prags in the valley head of St. Kassian . It is located on a protected small alpine pasture on hiking trail no.20, which leads from the hiking car park at the Capanna Alpina ( 1726  m ) up to the Lagazuoi and on to the Falzarego pass.

The hut was built in 1967 and has been privately managed since then.

Attractions

  • A few meters above the hut is the Lagazuoi Chapel, a wooden memorial chapel for soldiers who died in the Dolomite War and who died in avalanches.
  • About 0.5 km further uphill is the small and fish-rich Lagazuoisee .
