Scott Martin (athlete)

Scott Martin (born October 12, 1982 in Wodonga ) is an Australian shot putter and discus thrower .

In 2006 he won gold in discus throw and bronze in shot put at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne .

In the following years he concentrated on the shot put. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he was eliminated in qualification. In 2008 he finished seventh at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia , but did not get past the first round at the Olympic Games in Beijing or at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.

In 2010 he was originally eighth at the World Indoor Championships in Doha , but moved up to sixth place due to the subsequent disqualification of Andrej Michnewitsch and Pawel Lyschyn . In the same year he won the Oceania Championships in the shot put in Cairns, Australia.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012, he could not qualify for the final round. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 he was national champion in discus throwing, in 2006 and 2010 in shot put.

Scott Martin is 1.90 m tall and weighs 130 kg. He is trained by Gus Puopolo and starts for the Ringwood Athletics Club.
