Scourged Flesh is an Australian Christian death and thrash metal band from Perth that was formed in 2006.

history

The band was formed in February 2006 and released their debut album Released from Damnation on Rowe Productions that same year . After the release, bassist Simon Bracegirdle was replaced by Scott Lockyer. In the following year, the second album Bury the Lies followed in self-release . In 2008 guitarist Daniel Holmes joined the cast, while Lockyer was replaced by Simon Hoggett. The album Welcome to the End of the World , released in 2009 via Soundmass Records , is the band's last so far.

style

Brian Fischer-Giffin described in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal the music of the first two albums as melodic, Christian Thrash Metal, which uses a rough vocals. Jost Frommhold from metal.de described the style in his review of Welcome to the End of the World as “ groove- emphasized, highly catchy, elaborate and sustainable death lead ”. The intro of the first song brings back memories of Tyler Bates , while the rest is very groove-heavy and sounds influenced by newer slayers . War Machine is betoner groove-even, let similarities to Carcass see through and have a bit of King's X . Especially the vocals and the riffs would be reminiscent of Carcass in Heartwork times. Napier shows parallels to Quo Vadis on the album Day into Night . In other songs, the band often sounded like Bolt Thrower . The group makes use of guitar solos , but does not come close to bands like Death . Reini from stormbringer.at described the music as a mixture of Thrash and Death Metal, which, however, lacks a wealth of ideas, varied songwriting and an exciting song structure. The songs are mostly settled in the medium speed range, while the production has weaknesses. The vocals sound like a mixture of the bands Death and Destruction and Unleashed . In the song Waves of Disaster, the band makes use of clear vocals.
