Sdot Negev Regional Administration ( Hebrew מועצה אזורית שדות נגב, Mo'atza Azorit Sdot Negev ) is a regional administration and is located in the northwestern Negev in the southern district of Israel .
history
Sdot Negev was established in 1951 as the Azata Regional Administration ( Hebrew מועצה אזורית עזתה, Mo'atza Azorit Azata ) by the Zionist - Orthodox Labor Party Hapoel HaMizrachi founded. Sdot Negev was initially populated mainly by immigrants from North Africa , the countries of the former Soviet Union and Ethiopia . Due to the geographical proximity to the Gaza Strip , the settlements in South Negev have often been the target of rocket attacks in the past.
