Sea Level was an American rock band that moved stylistically between blues , rock and fusion jazz .

history

The band was formed after the Allman Brothers Band broke up in 1976 from their guitar-free rhythm section, some of which opened the Allman Brothers concerts as We Three . Then there was the guitarist Jimmy Nalls. The name of the band, which initially operated as a quartet, arose from a play on the abbreviated name of C. Leavell , who temporarily acted as the band leader.

A first album was created in 1977; for the second album, Cats on the Coast , the line-up was expanded (and the line-up was reminiscent of the Allman Brothers ). On the third album, Paul McCartney's Wings drummer , Joe English, replaced Johanson, who had rejoined the Allman Brothers. Two more albums were made before the group split up in 1980. Most of the core members then pursued solo careers.

Guitarist Jimmy Nalls, who suffered from Parkinson's disease, died on June 22, 2017 as a result of a fall.
