The Seagas is a Swedish LNG bunker ship. When it entered service in 2013, the ship was the first bunker ship for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
description
The Seagas is the former car ferry Fjalir , built on Løland Verft in 1974 , which was converted into an LNG bunker ship in 2013 at the Fiskerstrand shipyard. The conversion of the ship was a joint project between Swedish authorities, including the Stockholm Port Authority, the industrial gas company AGA, which belongs to the Linde Group, and Viking Line , so that ships can be bunkered with LNG in the Stockholm port. The occasion was the commissioning of the Viking Grace , which has been in service between Stockholm, Mariehamn and Turku since January 2013 . It is regularly supplied with liquefied natural gas in Stockholm. The bunkering process with 60 to 70 tons of liquefied natural gas takes about an hour. The supply of SEAGAS by truck from the road about 60 kilometers from the LNG terminal Nynashamn.
The Seagas is powered by an Alfa MAN B&W 6L23 / 30A dual-fuel main engine with a rated output of 735 kW at 828 rpm. Two Volvo Penta TAMD7SB diesel generators are available for power supply.
The operator of the ship on behalf of the ship owner AGA is the Swedish Sirius Rederi.
