Sean Hoare

Sean Hoare (* 1963 or 1964; † July 18, 2011 in Watford , Hertfordshire ) was a British journalist .

Life

Sean Hoare, who did not want to publicly announce the year of his birth, worked as a reporter for the tabloids The Sun (from 1998 to 2003) and News of the World . From 2001 to 2004 and 2006 Hoare was one of the recipients of the Shafta Award , a negative prize for dubious reporting, among other things because of his reports on the purchase of an island off Essex by David Beckham and Victoria Beckham . During his work he became addicted to drugs and alcohol , according to his own account due to his lifestyle as a gossip reporter . In 2005 he was dismissed by the editor-in-chief Andy Coulson because of this problem .

Hoare is considered to be the whistleblower in the News International scandal in connection with the News of the World newspaper . According to Hoare, under orders from his superiors, wiretapping of telephones and mailboxes, including locating people using signals from their cell phones, was a daily part of his work for this tabloid. The same applied to other employees.

Sean Hoare was found dead in his home on July 18, 2011. The cause of death was natural death. According to the police, there was no evidence of third-party negligence.
