The Seaplane Point ( English for seaplane point ) is a headland on the Davis coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located on the south bank of Curtiss Bay or on the north side of the Chawdar Peninsula .
Aerial photos by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from the years between 1955 and 1957 were used to map them. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the headland in 1960 based on the name of Curtiss Bay. It is named after the American aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss (1878–1930), who from 1911 particularly distinguished himself in the development of seaplanes .
