Seat Music Awards
The Seat Music Awards (until 2018 Wind Music Awards , 2014 only Music Awards ), or SMA for short , have been Italian music prizes awarded since 2007 , which are given to Italian performers who have achieved high sales of albums and / or singles in the past year.
history
The Italian telecommunications company Wind was initially the main sponsor (with the exception of the 2014 edition) , and the car manufacturer Seat took its place in 2019 . The event replaced the Italian Music Awards , which were given between 2001 and 2003 under the direction of FIMI . Since, in contrast to the previous event, there was no large jury, only sales figures decided on the awards, the award ceremony initially attracted a lot of criticism from the independent labels, represented by the PMI organization . From the third edition onwards, the event took place in the Verona Arena and thus succeeded the Festival Bar competition, the final of which was held there between 1964 and 2007.
2012, the broadcasting rights from went Mediaset transmitters Italia 1 on the public broadcaster Rai 1 on. After two years at the Foro Italico in Rome , they returned to Verona in 2015, and in 2016 the award ceremony was extended to two evenings.
