Sebastián Rodríguez , full name Sebastián Javier Rodríguez Iriarte , (born August 16, 1992 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.81 meter tall midfielder Sebastián Rodríguez was at the beginning of his career in at least the 2010/11 season in the squad of the Uruguayan first division club Danubio . There he played in Apertura and Clausura (1/8) nine games in the Primera División . In July 2011 he moved to Spain and joined UD Almería . There he competed - unlike the previous course of his career - with the name Iriarte on the jersey. However, in mid-2012 he decided to return to his "old" name. At first, he did not come to a use in the first team, which was taking part in the Segunda División . However, he played 34 games for UD Almería B in Segunda B in the 2011/12 season (two or three goals depending on the sources) and was also used there 26 times (two goals) in the following season. In the 2013/14 season he was on the pitch twelve times in the league (no goal). There are no further appearances for him in the 2014/15 season. Most recently, he played for Swiss third division club FC Locarno since mid-2014 , after he terminated his contract due to his Spanish employer not paying his salary. There he was eleven times (no goal) in the league. In February 2015 there was an imminent move to FC Schaffhausen . In early September 2015, he moved back to Uruguay and joined the first division promoted Liverpool Montevideo . In the 2015/16 season, he played 26 first division games and scored two goals. At the beginning of July 2016 he started an engagement at Nacional Montevideo . He signed a two and a half year contract. To win the national championship title in the 2016 season, he contributed nine first division appearances (no goal).

National team

Rodríguez was a member of the Uruguayan U-15 team coached by Fabián Coito , which took part in the U-15 South American Championship in Brazil in 2007 and finished second behind the host country. He was part of the squad of the Uruguayan U-17s at the U-17 South American Championship 2009 in Chile and at the U-17 World Cup in 2009 in Nigeria . He was used five times in the World Cup tournament. He did not score a hit.
