Sebastián Uriza

Sebastián Uriza (* 1861 in Bluefields , Nicaragua ) was President of Nicaragua from November 11 to 14, 1926.

Life

Sebastián Uriza was a member of the Partido Conservador de Nicaragua in Bluefields. In 1894, José Santos Zelaya occupied the Miskito coast . In 1907 Theodore Roosevelt , Bluefields occupy, in order to preserve US interests. In July 1907, Sebastián Uriza was arrested on suspicion of being involved in an uprising against José Santos Zelaya. Sebastián Uriza fell ill while in custody in Granada (Nicaragua) and after an examination date on August 7, 1907, he was released on payment of 50,000 Cordobas .

With the US military intervention in Nicaragua 1909–1925 , the Partido Conservador came to power and Sebastián Uriza came to the constituent assembly as a delegate for El Rama .

In 1911, Sebastián Uriza was a co-signatory to the constitution as a delegate and property owner from Bluefields

In 1913, Sebastián Uriza was a Member of Parliament for Estelí and President of Parliament and as such signed the Nicaraguan national anthem Salve a ti, Nicaragua .

Sebastián Uriza was a confidante of party chairman Emiliano Chamorro Vargas. This commissioned him in 1920 the name of the city of San Pedro de Metapa in Ciudad Darío change

On March 14, 1923, Sebastián Uriza signed the Washington Agreement for the Unification of Occupational Safety and Health Legislation.

During the US military intervention in Nicaragua 1926-1933 , Parliament appointed Sebastián Uriza president on November 11, 1926. This was just as little recognized by the US government as Emiliano Chamorro Vargas, who had put himself to power and was now defense minister. It was not until November 14, 1926, when parliament appointed the accountant of a US mining company, Adolfo Díaz, president, that the US government recognized him.
