Sebastian Block & Band is a German indie pop band. The music group around the singer Sebastian Block formed in Berlin in 2010 .
history
The head and namesake of the five-piece band is Sebastian Block , who already became known to a wider audience with Mein Mio. Catharina Behr sits on the drums , the bass is played by Mathieu Tascher . The band is completed by Guillermo Morales on second guitar and Ruud van der Zalm , who is responsible for percussion, melodica and tambourine.
On June 24th 2011 Sebastian Block & Band released the debut album Bin Ich du with a total of ten songs. The album was released on the JANUARY label , which Sebastian Block founded around the same time as the band was formed in late 2010. The music is produced by Sven van Thom and Thomas von Pescatore .
For the record release, the band played two live concerts in Brandenburg an der Havel and Berlin . This was followed by a tour through Germany and Switzerland in autumn 2011 and spring 2012. Sebastian Block & Band also made appearances at Berlin Music Week in 2011 and 2012. Finally, Sebastian Block toured solo as support for Mikroboy .
With their first single I hope so , the band was able to win the rbb ZIBB Summer Song Contest on August 12, 2011 . On October 1, 2011, there was an appearance at the radioeins Völkerball, which Sebastian Block & Band had won in a band competition held by the radio station. On September 13, 2012, the film Wir wanted on the sea by Toke Constantin Hebbeln with August Diehl , Alexander Fehling and others was released in German cinemas, for which Sebastian Block wrote the music title Our home is the sea . The band can be seen in the film in a bar scene with this song.
style
Stylistically, the band's music can be classified in the area of German indie pop . Folk and rock elements as well as polyphonic background singing complement the musical arrangements.
