Sebastian Haupt (artist)
Sebastian Haupt , also Sebastian haubt called (* around 1710 in Memmingen , † 5. March 1760 in Vienna ) was an Austrian carpenter (Kistler) Ebenist and artisans .
Life
Sebastian Haupt was born around 1710 in Memmingen, Upper Swabia . He married in Vienna in 1740. The design for the high altar in the Mariahilfer Church in Vienna comes from him. Jacob Matthias Schmutzer made the copperplate engraving in Royalfolio. Based on this design, a model was first made by Johann Joseph Resler around 1757/58 . The Salzburg stonemason Jakob Mösel built the altar out of marble with minor changes. Another design for a high altar (1759) in the parish church of Oberlaa comes from him. Philipp Gütl made the corresponding copperplate engraving.
Haupt died on March 5, 1760 in Vienna.
