Sebastian Young
Sebastian Junge (born January 17, 1962 in Belmont , Massachusetts ) is an American author , journalist and documentary filmmaker; He became known as the author of the bestseller The Perfect Storm about the misfortune of Andrea Gail . The book was filmed in The Storm .
Life
Junger's mother, Ellen Sinclair, is a painter, his German-born father, Miguel Junge, is a physicist. He grew up in the area of serial killer Albert Henry DeSalvo , which later inspired him to write the book A Death in Belmont about the series of murders. Junge attended Concord Academy in Concord until 1980 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in cultural anthropology from Wesleyan University in 1984 .
Junger's first book, The Perfect Storm, from 1997 became a bestseller, and Jung himself is often compared to Ernest Hemingway for it . He won the 2000 National Magazine Award for "The Forensics of War" published in Vanity Fair 1999. In early 2007, he reported on Blood Oil from Nigeria. Together with photographer Tim Hetherington Junger, he received the DuPont-Columbia Award for Broadcast Journalism for The Other War: Afghanistan , produced with ABC News and Vanity Fair, which was shown on ABC Nightline in September 2008.
Junge lived in Gloucester for two years . He currently lives with his wife Daniela in New York City , where he co-owns a bar called The Half-King .
