Sebastian Linnerz

Sebastian Linnerz (* 1959 in Bendorf am Rhein ) is a graphic designer in Cologne .

Life

After studying visual communication from 1981 to 1985 at the design department of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences with Hans Buschfeld and Heinz Bähr, he got permanent positions at Cologne advertising agencies from 1985 to 1987. Since January 1988 Linnerz has been a freelance graphic designer . The main focus of the work is font design and photography. The clients for posters, book covers, CD covers and brochures are Westdeutsche Rundfunk , Deutschlandradio , book and music publishers, Amnesty International and others.

In 1989 he was in New York for six months . While traveling, free photographs with typographic motifs are created, which are shown in the 1998 exhibition Writing: Signs in the city garden in Cologne . unnützbütze is an exhibition project with layers of gravure and photography with Andreas Vietz in 2001 in the Cologne graphic workshop. Since 1997 he has been giving seminars for the Leverkusen youth art groups .

In 2001 he married a dance therapist ; their children were born in 2002 and 2004.

In 2007, he expanded the project “ Schrift :zeichen” from 1998 with new motifs for “ writing characters traces” and exhibited them in March in the Cologne gallery Livingroom. Along with cover motifs of Germany Radio brochure radio play feature , which he designed a quarterly basis since 1995, the photographs were character traces from June in the exhibition Images find in the foyer of Germany Radio shown in Cologne. From October this exhibition, supplemented by seven light boxes made of wood and Plexiglas, went to the radio house of Deutschlandradio Kultur in Berlin . It was there until December 31, 2007.
