The Secure Payment Technologies (SPT), based in Innsbruck / Austria was founded in 2011 by Michael Suitner, a mobile payment solution without developing processing of sensitive customer data (account, card data, personal data) and to establish the market. It was launched in 2012 under the “Secure Shopping / Veropay” brands. The Bluecode payment technology was patented in 2014 and received various awards, such as B. for “Best Usability” in the Benchmarketing Study 2014 / Mücke & Sturm / Munich and “Top Product Retail 2016”. Subsequently, Secure Payment Technologies GmbH developed into today's Bluecode Group with the European payment system Bluecode. Seat of BlueCode International AG 's laughter in the Swiss canton of Schwyz .
history
In 2011, Suitner recognized that the integration of smartphones into payment transactions would lead to major challenges in terms of data protection and security and that these could only be satisfactorily solved with new technological approaches. To do this, he developed the proprietary Bluecode payment technology, the
- builds a completely anonymous payment cycle, which means that the payer can only be identified in the data center of his bank.
- handles the data exchange with issuers using an anonymous ID and the payment system never receives knowledge of the payer's sensitive data.
- provides the customer with a one-time valid, anonymous token (Bluecode) for payment.
- Allows payments without a data connection to the mobile device at the acceptance points.
- communicates with merchants via their cash register systems instead of via payment terminals.
In 2012, the market launch took place under the Secure Shopping / VeroPay brand in Tyrol , Austria with the first partner bank Hypo Tirol Bank AG and the retailer MPreis (400+ branches).
2013–2014, SPT expanded throughout Austria with the dealers Merkur , Billa , Bipa , Sutterlüty , ADEG and Hartlauer and enabled all Austrians to use Bluecode via an SDD model.
In 2015–2016, other large retailers followed, such as the SPAR Group and Hervis .
In order to expand across Europe, the company developed into the Bluecode Group in 2017. In 2019, Bluecode received funding from the European Commission (SME instrument) amounting to approx. 2 million euros. SPT acts as the operational arm of the Bluecode Group and as a service provider for Bluecode issuers and acquirers.
