Career

The merchant Christoph Seeberger opened in 1844 a grocer's shop in the Ulmer Pfluggasse. His son Friedrich expanded the business with the opening of a coffee roastery in 1882, which at that time developed from a pleasure drink to a folk drink. In 1902 the expanding company moved to the larger property of Friedrich Seeberger's father-in-law.

In 1924 Friedrich Seeberger jun. Took over. the enterprise. The coffee market largely collapsed after the First World War and Seeberger was only able to prevent the company from going bankrupt by selling food. Since his children were still minors, Julius Rohm joined Seeberger KG as a partner in 1949; he was initially busy with the consolidation of the company. As an importer and exporter of coffee and dried fruits, he relocated the company to these areas from 1952. In 1963 the company moved to new buildings in Neu-Ulm. In 1981 the North German market was opened up with the purchase of Schwartau-Import . In 1983 the company moved to the Danube Valley industrial area in Ulm.

In 2004 Julius Rohm senior died. 91 years old. Since then, the company has been run by his son and his nephew, Clemens Keller.

In June 2010 the German Coffee Association Hamburg was accused by the Federal Cartel Office of having promoted a cartel of coffee companies with a press release in February 2005, which is why a fine of up to 90,000 euros was imposed. In addition to Seeberger, the coffee roasters involved included Kraft Foods Aus Haus Service , Bremen, Luigi Lavazza Germany, Frankfurt, Tchibo , Hamburg, Segafredo Zanetti Germany , Munich, Gebr. Westhoff , Bremen, Melitta System Service , Minden, and JJ Darboven , Hamburg . The latter two companies received reduced fines because of their cooperation in investigating the allegations.
