Segafredo Zanetti is an international Italian company specializing in coffee products and based in Pianoro . Segafredo Zanetti is part of the Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group .
The Segafredo Zanetti Group is the only company of its kind that independently organizes coffee production from cultivation to processing ( vertical integration ). The company has its own plantation in Brazil , called "Nossa Senhora Da Guia", which, according to the company, is the largest contiguous coffee plantation in the world. In addition, eight roasters and the espresso machine production "LaSanMarco" belong to the company.
Company history
The former state roasting company Segafredo was bought up in 1973 by Massimo Zanetti , who founded Segafredo Zanetti SpA in Rastignano near Bologna . The first foreign branch was opened in Austria in 1983 . In 2005 the company took over several companies in the United States (Chock full o'Nuts, Chase and Sanborn, MJB, Hills Bros., ...).
criticism
In Germany, in June 2010, the German Coffee Association in Hamburg was accused by the Federal Cartel Office of having promoted a cartel of coffee companies in a press release in February 2005, which is why a fine of up to € 90,000 was imposed. In addition to Segafredo Zanetti, the coffee roasters involved included Kraft Foods Out-of-Home Service in Bremen, Luigi Lavazza Germany in Frankfurt, Seeberger in Ulm, Tchibo in Hamburg, Gebr. Westhoff in Bremen, Melitta System Service in Minden, and JJ Darboven in Hamburg. The latter two companies received reduced fines because of their cooperation in investigating the allegations.
