The cable car Verano ( Italian Funivia di Verano ) connects the South Tyrolean municipality of Verano on the Tschögglberg with Burgstall in the Adige Valley . The cable car is part of the Südtirol transport association .

Technical

The route leads from the valley station at 269  m slm on the southern outskirts of Burgstall over a single 44 m high support to the mountain station near the center of Vöran. This is located at 1182  m slm , so the cable car overcomes a height difference of 913 m.

The cable car has an inclined length of 2120 m. The travel speed is 10  m / s , the travel time around 5 minutes. Thanks to the 35-person cabin, a transport capacity of around 360 people per hour is achieved.

history

A first cable car with five concrete pillars between Burgstall and Vöran was built by the Hölzl company and put into operation in 1958. The cabin of this cable car offered space for twelve people. A trip took around 8 minutes. The plant was last renewed in 2000.

In order to cope with the growing rush - including cyclists - in 2016, Doppelmayr was awarded the contract for a completely new building. This comprised a rerouting of the cable car route next to the old system (this allowed the old cable car to remain in operation during the new construction), a new valley station serving as a mobility center and a new mountain station. The total cost was around 9.3 million euros. The main part of the financing was taken over by the state of South Tyrol, the remaining 10% by the municipality of Verano. The inauguration took place on October 7, 2017.
