Seljatyn ( Ukrainian Селятин ; Russian Селятин Seljatin , Polish Seletyn , Romanian and German , until 1918, Seletin ) is a village in the Eastern Carpathians in the south of the Ukrainian Oblast Chernivtsi with about 1100 inhabitants (2004).
Seljatyn lies at an altitude of 824 m in the southeast of the historical Bukovina landscape on the Ukrainian- Romanian border. Seljatyn is the center of the district council of the same name within the Putyla district in Pokutien and is located about 105 km southwest of the Oblast capital Chernivtsi and 21 km south of the Putyla district center . The village can be reached via the territorial road Т – 26–09 and has a train station on the Brodina – Izvoarele Sucevei railway line .
The district council with a total of around 2300 inhabitants includes, in addition to Seljatyn, the villages Halyziwka ( Галицівка ⊙ ; altitude 757 m ) with around 670 inhabitants and Ruska ( Руська ⊙ ; altitude 833 m ) with around 470 inhabitants.
