biography

Semih Yavsaner was born in Bern in 1979 to Turkish parents. After compulsory school he attended business school.

1997–1999 Yavsaner hosted his own program on the complementary Radio RaBe in Bern with Semih Seminte Samen Show . The flagship was a curse competition, where Yavsaner moderated curse duels between two guests on the phone. The program was finally canceled because it violated the broadcasting guidelines.

In 2004 he was co- songwriter of the soundtrack for the Swiss film The Ring Thing , a parody of the film trilogy The Lord of the Rings .

In 2008 he started the program Semih Supreme Show on Radio Bern RaBe . There he developed his fictional character Müslüm as part of telephone jokes .

Yavsaner became known to a wider public as a musician. In the summer of 2010 his fictional character Müslüm suddenly gained national fame when Yavsaner made the video clip Erich, why bisch du nid honest? presented to the public in advance of the vote to close the autonomous riding school cultural center in Bern. The song Erich, why are you not being honest? was viewed over two million times on YouTube , and three record companies showed interest in a CD.

Semih Yavsaner has published several singles as a muesli and in 2012 the album Süpervitamin . He later created another fictional character, Apochalüpt , and released the album of the same name in 2015. He sees them as "opponents of mueslum, dark antagonists and the personified apocalypse".

In 2012, Semih Yavsaner played Kenan of Turkish origin in the film " 300 Words of German ", who moved from Switzerland to Cologne. During this time he also worked for the satire program PET on Swiss radio SRF1 .

In November 2015, Yavsaner took part in the theater production Hotel Kosmos by the Bernese director Meret Matter . The play by the independent Bernese theater group Club 111 deals satirically with the refugee situation.

As of April 1, 2016, his fictional character Müslüm received its own TV show Müslüm TV on Swiss television SRF 1 . According to SRF, Müslüm has the task of “winning foreign viewers for Swiss television” and “tearing down the cultural walls between migrants and Swiss.” From the end of October 2016, the second season followed with another 4 episodes of Müslüm TV.

In September 2017, Müslüm campaigned for less meat consumption at the “Meat Festival” of the Swiss Association of Beef Cattle Breeders by selling vegan Dürüm on the Bundesplatz.

Semih Yavsaner has two children and lives in Bern.
