The Cairn Hill transmitter is an Irish transmitter on the mountain of the same name in County Longford in the Republic of Ireland .

The system was put into operation in 1978 by the public broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). The transmission mast with a construction height of 123 meters stands on Cairn Hill with a height of 276 m above sea level. MSL. The station with an output of 800 kW ERP was the strongest television station in Ireland at the time. The FM radio program RTÉ Radio 1 has also been broadcast since 2005. Digital television programs (DVB-T) were broadcast from February 2009. Analog TV broadcasts will end on October 24, 2012. Today, the broadcasting system is owned by 2RN, a wholly owned subsidiary of RTÉ. The Cairn Hill transmitter covers the entire area of ​​the Irish Midlands.
