Giengen transmitter

The transmitter Giengen is a filler transmitter of the Südwestrundfunk (formerly the Süddeutscher Rundfunk ), which serves the radio. It is located on the Bruckersberg south of the old town of Giengen an der Brenz and mainly serves to supply this town in the Brenz valley .

A 32 meter high, free-standing steel lattice mast serves as the antenna carrier. The location was put into operation in 1961 as a filling station for the first television program . In the course of the conversion to digital terrestrial television DVB-T , the television converter was switched off in 2008. The four radio programs SWR1 Baden-Württemberg , SWR2 , SWR3 and SWR4 Baden-Württemberg have been broadcast from here since 1997. The programs are supplied by receiving a ball from the Aalen network transmitter .

In the immediate vicinity there is a 57 meter high spun concrete mast of the Deutsche Funkturm , which formerly served to supply the city with the analogue television programs ZDF and Südwest Fernsehen and is now only used for mobile communications ( Telekom , Vodafone , E-Plus ).
