The Weinheim transmitter is a transmitter of the Südwestrundfunk (formerly the Süddeutscher Rundfunk ) for broadcasting radio signals. It is located on the southwest slope of the Hirschkopf , a 365 meter high elevation north of Weinheim in the Odenwald . A free-standing lattice mast serves as the antenna carrier.
From here, the city of Weinheim and the surrounding areas are supplied, which due to the topographical conditions of the Odenwald cannot be adequately reached from the Heidelberg television tower .
