Sentscha ( Ukrainian and Russian Сенча ) is a village in Lochwyzja Rajon in the central Ukrainian Poltava Oblast with 3,000 inhabitants on both sides of the Sula River .

The village is the capital of the district council of the same name , which also includes the villages Lutschka (Ukrainian Лучка ) with 216 inhabitants and Rudka (Ukrainian Рудка ) with 64 inhabitants.

history

The settlement Sentscha was first mentioned in 989 AD. After the rule of the Tatars it grew under Polish-Lithuanian rule, so that in 1638 1,403 inhabitants lived in it, making it the third largest settlement in the area of ​​today's Poltava Oblast after Lochwyzja and Lubny . At that time the Sentscha had 31 mill wheels. The village Lutschka was first mentioned in 1623, the village Rudka in 1722. In 1767 Sentscha was given a coat of arms. In 1934 the rural community received its current form.

Sentscha is known regionally for its traditional ceramic work . There is an oil processing company in the village.
