Seppo Zetterberg (born December 5, 1945 in Helsinki , Finland ) is a Finnish historian and author .

Life

Zetterberg earned the title of Dr. phil. in 1977. From 1982 to 1988 he was a professor at the University of Helsinki and from 1988 to 1994 he was a researcher (Finnish: akatemiaprofessori, German: academy professor) by the Academy of Finland . He was director of the Estonian Institute of Finland from 1994 to 1996 and has been a professor of general history at Jyväskylä University since 1996 . In 2006 he was elected to the Finnish Academy of Sciences .

Since his doctoral thesis Suomi ja Viro 1917-1919 from 1977, Zetterberg's research interests have been the history of Estonia and the biographies of politicians.
