The RFC Seraing is a Belgian football club based in the town of Seraing in the Arrondissement of Liège .
After the insolvency of the old RFC Seraing in 1996, the RFC Seraing-RUL was created as the successor association. This merged with the Charleroi Football Club in 2014 . The merged club changed its name to Racing Club Charleroi-Couillet-Fleurus and moved its headquarters to Charleroi.
At that time, Dominique D'Onofrio (former coach and sports director of Standard Liège ) was the sports director of FC Metz . Due to his initiative, FC Metz took over the majority of the financially troubled Royal Boussu Dour Borinage (until 2009 Royal Francs Borains ). This club then changed its name to Seraing United and its headquarters from Boussu to Seraing. He now had the club colors red and black, like the old RFC Seraing. This construction made it possible for Seraing United to play directly in the 2nd division in its first season .
In 2015 it was possible to use the historical name RFC Seraing again .
For the 2015/16 season, the second division (new: Division 1B) was reduced from 16 to 8 clubs. As a result, the club rose to the 1st division amateurs , although it finished 11th at the end of the season . When the 2019/20 season was canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , RFC Seraing was in 3rd place. In addition to the insolvent Sporting Lokeren , KSV Roeselare and Royal Excelsior Virton were also relegated from Division 1B due to license refusal . As a result, 3rd place was enough for promotion to Division 1B for the 2020/21 season.
RFC Seraing is a partner club of FC Metz.
