Serbian national water polo team

The Serbian national water polo team ( Serbian - Cyrillic Ватерполо репрезентација Србије ) has been the sole successor of the Serbian-Montenegrin national water polo team since 2006, after the split of Montenegro from Serbia . Before that, the Serbian-Montenegrin national team was the successor to the Yugoslav national team.

In 2006 the Serbian national team became European champions at the 27th European Championships in Belgrade . Shortly before, the Serbian-Montenegrin team won the World Cup in Hungary.

At the European Water Polo Championships in Spain in 2008, the Serbian national team lost to the Montenegrin team in the final.

In the FINA Water Polo World League , launched in 2002, the Serbian-Montenegrin team won in 2005 and 2006 and the Serbian team in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.

At the swimming world championships in Rome in 2009 , the Serbian national team won the world championship against the Spanish national team after five-meter shooting with 14:13.

The Serbian athletes celebrated their greatest success so far at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where they beat the Croatian team 11: 7 on August 20 and won the gold medal.
