Sergei Borissowitsch Kuksin ( Russian Сергей Борисович Куксин ; * 1955 ) is a Russian mathematician who deals with partial differential equations (PDE).

Kuksin received his doctorate in 1981 under Mark Vishik at Lomonosov University . He was at the Steklow Institute in Moscow, at Heriot-Watt University and is Research Director at the Institut Mathématiques de Jussieu at the University of Paris VII .

He dealt with (and developed) a KAM theory for partial differential equations (infinitely dimensional Hamiltonian systems), dealt with partial differential equations with random disturbances, turbulence and statistical hydrodynamics and elliptical PDE for maps between compact manifolds.

In 1992 he was invited speaker at the European Congress of Mathematicians in Paris (KAM theory for partial differential equations). In 1998 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin (Elements of a qualitative theory of Hamiltonian PDEs). In 2016 he received the Lyapunov Prize from the Russian Academy of Sciences .
