Sergei Vladimirovich Garnow

Sergei Wladimirowitsch Garnow ( Russian Сергей Владимирович Гарнов ; born May 4, 1957 ) is a Russian solid-state physicist .

Life

Garnow entered the A.M. Prokhorov Institute of General Physics (IOF) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)), in which he became head of the Laboratory of Lasers - Spectroscopy , head of the department for vibrations and finally scientific vice director. In 2016 he was elected a corresponding member of the RAN. He has been director of the IOF since 2018, succeeding Ivan Alexandrovich Shcherbakov .

In 2001, Garnow defended his PhD thesis on multiphone excitation and the initiation of non-equilibrium charge carriers in wide- bandgap crystals by picosecond laser pulses . He became a recognized expert in laser physics and the interaction of laser radiation and matter . He is the author or co-author of a large number of publications. His stag index is 19.
