Sergio Clerici (born May 25, 1941 in São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian soccer player who spent most of his career in Italy, where he played for FC Bologna , AC Florence and SSC Naples , among others .
Career
Sergio Clerici was trained in the youth department of Associação Portuguesa de Desportos in his hometown of São Paulo . In 1960 , at the age of 19, he accepted an offer from the Italian club Calcio Lecco , which was first class at the time. For the club from Lombardy , Clerici played from then until 1967 in 201 league games in the first and second Italian league, scoring 59 goals. After relegation from Serie A in the 1966/67 season , the native Brazilian moved to Bologna FC , where he helped to reach sixth place in the 1967/68 season . During this one season, which he was staying in Bologna , Clerici was used 22 times, with four goals arising. In the summer of 1968 Atalanta Bergamo took him under contract, but where he had to accept relegation in Serie A 1968/69 as bottom of the table with just nineteen points and Bergamo turned his back on. In 1969 Sergio Clerici Hellas joined Verona , with whom he twice managed to stay in the league and both times became the top scorer of the northern Italians. After 54 games for Hellas Verona and eighteen goals, he was signed by Fiorentina in 1971 . Clerici was also a regular in Florence and helped Fiorentina to reach the UEFA Cup in Serie A in 1971/72 and was also the club's top scorer here. The same thing was repeated the following year with fourth and tenth goals from Clerici. In the middle of 1973 Sergio Clerici went to Campania for SSC Napoli , with whom he reached third place in his first season and contributed fifteen goals of the season. In 1974/75 he was second with Napoli, which meant the best placement in Serie A for the club up to then, and they put the best offensive, Clerici scored fourteen goals this season, strike partner Giorgio Braglia twelve. Despite the success with the SSC, Clerici left southern Italy for the 1975/76 season and returned to Bologna FC, where he spent two years in midfield in Serie A without standing out great. From 1977 to 1978 he let his career end with Lazio Rome and came to eleven games and one goal in the Serie A league, where Lazio with eleventh place just one point ahead of the first relegated CFC Genoa just secured relegation.
He later became a coach for a few years in his native Brazil, where he had never made it to an international match due to his activity in Italy and coached the teams of Palmeiras São Paulo , FC Santos and Internacional Limeira for one year each , without major To have success.
