The Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache is considered an unadapted visionary. He assumed that a concert as a unique, sensual event could not be repeated, which is why he did not allow studio recordings of the pieces he conducted. At the age of only 33, Celibidache was appointed head of the Berlin Philharmonic in post-war Berlin. Thanks to his unique and emotional style, the newcomer quickly becomes known internationally. His almost anarchic attitude towards the music business brought him a defeat. After the death of his predecessor Wilhelm Furtwängler , whose representative he took over during the denazification period, he lost his engagement with the Philharmonic to Herbert von Karajan .

This setback in his career only reinforces Celibidache's artistic uncompromising attitude. In the course of the 1950s and 60s he achieved the status of a sought-after guest conductor around the world, who had an almost mystical experience at a concert in Venice. From now on he always tries to restore that moment of musical holism in his work, which gives him a growing fan base who attend his concerts almost like at a religious mass. The conductor, fascinated by Zen Buddhism and the idea of reincarnation, is soon worshiped like a guru. In his refuge in Paris he is constantly devoting himself to his mystical search.

In the 1980s, as chief conductor of the Munich Philharmonic, he finally got back the recognition that he had been denied for decades. Nonetheless, during his research, Norbert Busè stumbled upon a sensational find: a résumé falsified by Celibidache himself appeared in the Berlin University of Music and completed the picture of a contradicting artist. In addition to Celibidache's sister Irina-Paraschiva Celibidache, his son Serge, excerpts of his film about his father, will be shown as a TV premiere.
