Serubbabel

Zerubbabel ( Hebrew זְרֻבָּבֶל, probably from Akkadian zēr-bābili , scion of Babels, because born in exile, in the Septuagint and Vulgate Zorobabel ) was governor of the province of Yehud at the time of the Persian king Darius I (6th century BC). From a conservative point of view, he is equated with Scheschbazar , but this is controversial.

Biblical tradition

Zerubbabel was the grandson of 597 BC. King Jehoiachin of Judah deported to Babylonia .
