The Servizio ferroviario metropolitano di Cagliari is a line operated by Trenitalia that runs between the Sardinian capital Cagliari and the suburb of Decimomannu on the Cagliari – Golfo Aranci Marittima railway .

The line was set up on June 10, 2001 with stops in Cagliari Elmas and Assemini and a frequency of around 120 minutes.

On June 14, 2009, the line was expanded to include the stops Cagliari Santa Gilla, Assemini Carmine and Assemini Santa Lucia, with the time for a journey to 23-24 minutes and the frequency increased to about 30 minutes in rush hour.

In 2011, the line called servizio metropolitano (M) , which serves all stops, does not have a uniform frequency. Two trains run in each direction in the morning and, after a break of around 6 hours, a frequency of around 90 minutes is maintained in the afternoon. The route is also used by regional trains (R) with stops in Cagliari Elmas and Assemini and without intermediate stops.

According to a public transport study by the Transport Planning Service (Tps) presented on May 4, 2011, traffic on the Cagliari – Decimomannu line is to be intensified and a regular timetable introduced.

The Elmas Aeroporto airport station was opened on June 9, 2013 . At the same time, the Assemini Carmine and Assemini Santa Lucia stops were closed. You will be approached again, there is an hourly cycle with deviations in 2016.
