Shōhei Honda ( Japanese 本田 尚 平 , Honda Shōhei ; born December 2, 1982 in Hokkaidō ) is a former Japanese cross-country skier . He belongs to the "winter combat training unit" (Tōsenkyō) of the ground self-defense forces .

Career

Honda took part from 2000 to 2012 mainly in FIS races and from 2004 in races in the cross-country Far East Cup , which he finished in the 2007/08 season with first place in the overall standings. He ran his first World Cup race in March 2004 in Lahti , which he finished in 55th place in the sprint. He got his first and only World Cup points in February 2007 in Changchun with the 27th place in the sprint. At the Winter Asian Games 2007 he finished 11th in the sprint and eighth place over 30 km freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 he won 44th place over 15 km classic, 43rd place in the 30 km skiathlon race and tenth place together with Yūichi Onda in the team sprint.

Honda won three Japanese sprint championships (2006, 2010, 2011) and one team sprint (2010).
