Shoko
Emperor Shōkō ( Japanese 称 光 天皇 , Shōkō-tennō ; * May 12, 1401 ; † August 30, 1428 ) was the 101st Tennō of Japan (October 5, 1412-30 August 1428). His proper name was Mihito ( 実 仁 ).
Shōkō ruled from October 5, 1412 to August 30, 1428. But the real power lay with the shoguns of the Ashikaga shogunate . Shōkō died in 1428 without a son and without deciding on his successor. After his death, his father, the abdicated Emperor Go-Komatsu, appointed a prince as an imperial successor, who was descended from the counter-emperor Suko , Go-Hanazono .
