Shahjehan is a successful Hindi film drama by AR Kardar from 1946. The story is embedded in a historical setting around the Mughal Shah Jahan and emphasizes the two typical motifs in connection with Shah Jahan, his commitment to justice and the Taj built out of love Mahal .

action

The poet Sohail once sees a beautiful girl named Ruhi, daughter of the Rajput general Jwala Singh, and extols her beauty in the love song Mere Sapnon Ki Rani . The song becomes so popular and known to Ruhi that some disappointed admirers disrupt Ruhi's wedding procession and five of the Ruhi brothers who tried to protect them perish in the scuffle.

Finally, Ruhi's father asks the conqueror Shah Jahan for help. Shah Jahan takes Ruhi and promises to solve the problem by marrying her to someone who can create a work of art that represents "Heaven on Earth". Sohail wins the competition with the song Kar Lijiye Chal Kar Meri Jannat Ke Nazare , but Ruhi actually loves the Persian sculptor Shiraz.

Shah Jahan gets into an argument with his wife Mumtaz Mahal over the dilemma . On her deathbed, he promises her to build a monument that will reflect her love. Shiraz is supposed to build the monument, but before that he too should experience a loss comparable to that of Shah Jahan's.

Ruhi's father pretends to have killed Ruhi. Completely dissolved with pain, Shiraz builds the Taj Mahal . It turns out afterward that Ruhi is still alive, as Sohail sacrificed his life to save hers.

Reviews

While historical films about the Mughal period the legends of the masculinity of the moguls usually in the foreground, this goes beyond and exceeds the separation of political and personal stories.
