Shaoshan
Shaoshan (韶山 市Sháoshān Shì ) is an independent city that belongs to the administrative area of the independent city of Xiangtan in the central Chinese province of Hunan . The city has around 118,000 inhabitants (end of 2011) on an area of 247.3 km² (population density: 477.2 inh / km²).
particularities
Mao Zedong's birthplace , Shaoshan Township, is part of the city's administrative area. During the Cultural Revolution , the place was the target of millions of Red Guards . After a decline in visitor numbers in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Shaoshan is now once again a popular tourist destination in China.

The city of Shaoshan is composed of three large parishes and four parishes at the parish level . These are:
- Greater community Qingxi (清溪镇), seat of the city government;
- Greater community ruyi (如意镇);
- Greater community Yintian (银田镇);
- Daping Township (大 坪乡);
- Community Shaoshan (韶山乡);
- Community Yanglin (杨林乡);
- Community Yongyi (永义乡).
