Sheldon Datz
Sheldon Datz (born July 21, 1927 in New York City , † August 15, 2001 Oak Ridge (Tennessee) ) was an American chemist and physicist .
Datz was at Stuyvesant High School in 1943 and received a BS from Columbia University in 1950 and an MA in 1951 there as well. In 1960 he received his PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Tennessee . From 1951 until his death he held numerous positions at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory , most recently as head of the Atomic Physics Section . In 1969 he became a Fellow of the American Physical Society .
Sheldon Datz investigated the electronic properties of crystals by bombarding them with high-energy ions. He published more than 300 papers in scientific publications.
