Sheldon Isaiah Eberhardt (born November 2, 1995 in Pforzheim ) is a German basketball player . He has been playing for Bayer Leverkusen since 2019 .
Player career
Eberhardt, son of a German and an American, grew up in Germany and from the 2012/13 season played for the second men's team from Post Südstadt Karlsruhe in the regional league. In the 2013/14 season he made four appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA for BG Karlsruhe , which at the time had a cooperation with PSK .
For the 2014/15 season he went to the United States and played for the basketball selection at Middle Creek High School in the city of Apex ( North Carolina ). In 2015, he began studying at Elon University (also in North Carolina) and joined the college's basketball team in the NCAA's first division . In four years he came to 93 missions for Elon, in which he was 13 times in the starting line- up. He got averages of 6.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and two basket templates. He achieved his highest point average in the 2018/19 game year when he recorded 10.3 per game. That year Sheldon scored 23 points against the College of William & Mary , his career high in the "Most Points in a Game" category. Following this season, Eberhardt was named the best “sixth man” in the Colonial Athletic Association division .
In July 2019, Eberhardt was signed by the Bundesliga club Mitteldeutscher BC . He played five Bundesliga games for MBC until November 2019, but did not make the breakthrough and only scored 1.2 points per match. During the 2019/20 season, the Combo Guard moved to the second division Bayer Giants Leverkusen . With the German record champions he made a total of 16 appearances in the ProA 2019/20 , in which he marked an average of 9.2 points per game. The season ended prematurely in mid-March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic . In June 2020 he extended his expiring contract with the Rhinelanders for another season.
