Shelton Joseph Fabre (born October 25, 1963 in New Roads ) is Bishop of Houma-Thibodaux .

Life

After attending the local schools, Fabre graduated from Pointe Coupée in 1981. He then entered St. Benedict Seminary in Louisiana. This was followed by studies at the University of Leuven , which he completed with a Master of Arts .

On August 5, 1989 he consecrated Bishop Stanley Joseph Ott for priests of the Diocese of Baton Rouge . In the following years he was chaplain of the parishes of St. George in Baton Rouge, St. Alphonsus Liguori in Greenwell Springs, St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge and St. Isidore the Farmer in Baker. Most recently he was pastor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Baton Rouge.

Active in the personnel commission of his diocese, he was also pastoral care director for the “black population” of his home diocese. Later he also became dean of the Northwest Deanery, as well as consultor and member of the priestly council of his diocese. At the same time he took up the position of a marriage defender at the official office .

On December 13, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Pudentiana and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of New Orleans . Since then he has been not only Episcopal Vicar , but also pastor of the congregation Holy Rosary Parish on Esplanade Avenue.

On September 23, 2013, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Houma-Thibodaux. The inauguration followed on October 30 of the same year.

His cousin is the Old Bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee , John Huston Ricard .
