The small town of Shenandoah is an agricultural community between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Massanutten Ridge on the banks of the Shenandoah River in Page County , Virginia . In 2000, 1878 inhabitants were counted.
Shenandoah is at the center of the Shenandoah Valley's tourism industry and from there the Luray Caves, the Massanutten Resort, Shenandoah National Park and the New Market Battlefield can be reached.
The river and the mountains are mentioned in the famous country song "Country Roads" by John Denver .
